Wupatki Sunset Crater & Sedona
Now a part of our Thursday Getaway Series,
Any trip to Northern Arizona would not be complete without a visit to these sites. Wupatki and Sunset Crater National Parks are often grouped together on trips due to their close proximity to each other. We will visit these sites then head south for lunch at Cameron Trading Post provided by Master’s Touch Tours (get your Navajo Taco here) then on to Sedona for a viewpoint, and some time to shop in “Old Sedona”.
Wupatki Ruins nestled between the Painted Desert and ponderosa highlands of northern Arizona, Wupatki is a landscape of legacies. Ancient pueblos dot red-rock outcroppings across miles of prairie. Where food and water seem impossible to find, people built pueblos, raised families, farmed, traded, and thrived. Today, if you linger and listen, earth and artifacts whisper their stories to us still.
Sunset Crater is a cinder cone located north of Flagstaff in U.S. State of Arizona. The crater is within the Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument. It is the youngest in a string of volcanoes (the San Francisco volcanic field) that is related to the nearby San Francisco Peaks.
Sedona is an Arizona desert town near Flagstaff that’s surrounded by red-rock buttes, steep canyon walls and pine forests. It’s noted for its mild climate and vibrant arts community. Uptown Sedona is dense with shops and art galleries.
