The Arizona Copper Art Museum tells a genuine story, one that marries Arizona’s greatest treasure with world legends and fantastic art by returning copper home to where it all began. Purposely located in the former copper town of Clarkdale – founded in 1912. Clarkdale was built by Senator W. A. Clark “America’s Copper King.” The collection on display is massive with over 5000 artifacts and hundreds dating to the 1500-1800’s, Galleries; Special Historical Information, Military Art, Art and Architecture, Kitchen Collection, Drinking Collection and Winery and Distillery Collection.
Also, we have added a train ride aboard the Verde Canyon Railroad to this trip for added incentive.
The Verde Canyon, featuring an abundance of native flora and fauna, rugged, high-desert rock faces and spectacular vistas, is only accessible by rail. Expect to be captivated by this untouched and unspoiled canyon. Since 1912 the train has existed in harmony with the wilderness and its native inhabitants, and since 1990 has offered a glimpse of these treasured landscapes.The FP7 locomotives, two of only 10 remaining in North America, are the muscle that pulls the quarter-mile length of passenger cars. All passenger cars are climate-controlled and each one has a restroom, comfortable seating, thoughtful décor and friendly, informative attendants. Throughout the trip, an insightful narration about the four-hour, 40-mile round trip is paired with a great selection of classic railroad tunes.
