The Ronald Regan Presidential Library and Museum sits on a high hill with sweeping views of the surrounding mountains, valleys and the Pacific Ocean. The Library is one of California’s beautiful and unique destinations. The Library’s 300 acre site, about 45 miles from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), stands in for the “shining city on a hill” often referenced by President Reagan. The Library grounds serve as the final resting place of the nation’s 40th President, and his wife, First Lady Nancy Reagan. In addition to the Museum , the Reagan Library, as a Presidential library administered by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) under the authority of the Presidential Records Act, is the repository of presidential records for President Reagan’s administration. Our holdings include over 60 million pages of documents, over 1.6 million photographs, a half million feet of motion picture film and tens of thousands of audio and video tapes. Additionally, the Library houses personal paper collections including documents from Ronald Reagan’s eight years as governor of California.

The Gene Autry Museum of the American West features world-class galleries filled with Native American art and artifacts, film memorabilia, historic firearms, paintings, and more. The Autry brings together the stories of all peoples of the American West, connecting the past with the present to inspire our shared future. The Autry Museum was co-founded by Jackie and Gene Autry and Joanne and Monte Hale. With the opening of the Museum in 1988, Gene Autry realized his dream “to build a museum which would exhibit and interpret the heritage of the West and show how it influenced America and the world.” Mr. Autry was a legendary recording and movie star whose illustrious career spanned some 60 years in the entertainment industry. He was an astute businessman, Chairman of the Board of a broadcasting empire, and owner of a Major League Baseball team. The Autry’s collection of more than 500,000 pieces of art and artifacts includes the Southwest Museum of the American Indian Collection, one of the largest and most significant collections of Native American materials in the United States.

The Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum is one of 16 presidential libraries administered by the National Archives and Records Administration. We serve the public by protecting, preserving, and providing access to the Nixon Library’s collection of more than 46 million documents and 3,700 hours of recorded Presidential conversations known as the “White House Tapes”, 4,000 separate recordings of broadcast video, nearly 4,500 audio recordings, 300,000 still photographs, 2 million feet of film, and more than 62,000 State Gifts, Public Gifts, and historical objects. The Library’s holdings document President Nixon’s administration, life, and times. The Library provides a broad range of statutorily essential services to the public through access to the archives, museum, education, and public programming departments.During our visit there will be a SPECIAL EXHIBIT – The Spirit of ‘76: 250 Years of America, featuring 250 artifacts that tell America’s story, from the days of the First Americans right up to the space age, civil rights movement, and the end of the Cold War.
