Museum of the West
Scottsdale’s Museum of the West immerses you in the Wild West. In this huge, 43,000-square-foot museum you can view numerous paintings, sculptures, artifacts and interactive exhibits throughout. Displays of sheriffs’ badges, old west guns, saloon and gambling paraphernalia, playbills from Wild West shows and interactive puzzles keep visitors engaged. Boots worn by Hollywood Western movie legend John Wayne are also on display, as are photos of the Lone Ranger and numerous other Wild West memorabilia in the collected works.
Fans of trains and American railroad history need to visit McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park and its many avenues for exploration. The park houses the Scottsdale Railroad Museum, which holds the entire historic Peoria Depot, the Roald Amundsen Pullman Car, the 1907 Engine No. 6. and more treasures. Also visit the 10,000 square foot model railroad building featuring contributions from four model railroad clubs.
