Grand Canyon West Rim, Hoover Dam, & Boulder City Historic Tour

Part of one of the world’s Seven Natural Wonders, the West Rim of the Grand Canyon is located on the Hualapai Indian Reservation. During our time here, we’ll have an opportunity to experience the Grand Canyon Skywalk, opened in 2007. It provides a unique vantage point, 4000′ above the Grand Canyon. The Hoover Dam, located on the Colorado River at the Arizona and Nevada border, was constructed during the Great Depression by the “Boulder Canyon Project Act”. The “Act” was passed by Congress in 1928, construction started a mere 3 years later and was finished with New Deal funds under FDR and dedicated in 1935. This modern marvel was the world’s largest hydroelectric installation at the time it was built, it is still serving us today by providing enough power to serve 1.3 million people. Our next stop is the Nevada State Railroad Museum located in Boulder City. We’ll enjoy a short train ride as well as learn about the instrumental role the railroad played in the construction of Hoover Dam. We’ll stop for lunch at the historic Boulder Dam Hotel built in 1933 to accommodate visitors to the Hoover Dam site. We wrap up this historic tour of the area at Clark County Heritage Museum. The museum consists of a 30-acre site with modern exhibit halls as well as a collection of restored historic buildings. We hope you will join us on this journey that spans not only miles, but time too.
